"This is a great rum and if you save the glass for the day after sampling it you'll get surprised at the nose. A complex rum with a nice balance between spices and fruit. I really liked the oaky finish. A rather high price tag compared to the quality, but rare bottles are not cheap. "

"We had a nice Agricole evening yesterday and the lineup was really good. I'll start with the last one first. A grand Agricole from the top shelf. Really well balanced with light fruit and age shown in the elegant wood on the profile. Light caramel and licorice in the back of the profile. Not a cheap bottle but definitely a good one and I will go hunting for one if u can find it at a good price."

"Sehr schöner Agricole. Breites Spektrum mit schöner Nougat- und Konfekt-Süsse, wohlbalanciertes Holz, frische grüne Noten, etwas schwere Fruchtaromen…am Gaumen meldet sich auch der Alkohol, aber bei über 60% sei ihm das auch gestattet. Tolle Fassauswahl, sehr schönes Release!"

"Un Foursquare classique et chaleureux. Dès le début, la rondeur du nez s'installe sur le caramel beurré sur sa tranche de pain légèrement grillé, accompagné d'un chocolat au lait et de fruits secs confits. La coco grillée est bien présente. Une note de poussière de bois scié comme dans une scierie encore en activité. En bouche, de suite le fût de bourbon développe un beau boisé toasté et caramélisé, de la cannelle, de la vanille aussi et un soupçon de gingembre qui passe par là. On retrouve le lait chocolaté et les fruits secs à l'alcool. C'est gourmand et généreux. Une finale épicée, suivie de senteurs de cuir de fauteuil au coin du feu et de boîte à cigare déjà ouverte. Alcool très bien intégré de bout en bout. Un beau 16 ans d'âge d'un single cask bien ficelé."

"Deuxième cuvée officielle de Long Pond, ce rhum sait faire parler ses atouts. Très élégant, le nez assemble parfaitement les notes d’esters et de vernis à ongles aux fruits exotiques et aux fruits rouges, le tout arrondi par le massepain, des épices douces et un boisé bien fondu. En bouche, une véritable concentration aromatique se forme sur les fruits tropicaux : banane, ananas, fruit de la passion, papaye, sans oublier les agrumes (zestes de citron) s’expriment librement. Le boisé épicé et les esters sont ici plus en retrait. L’alcool est très bien intégré. La finale, relativement longue, reprend la main avec les esters, le vernis, le boisé aux épices parfumées et les fruits exotiques. Un très bon rhum sur le papier, qui a tout pour plaire à un détail près : le prix, ici stratosphérique et incohérent pour une cuvée pareil."

"Second tasting: Uiuiui is the sharp on the palate, no wonder at almost 70%!But convinced me no longer so, since I know better Uitvlugt Rums(-2)Very interesting nose, similar to cherry liqueur and quite closed. On the palate very intense with a nice marzipan note, cocoa and barrel notes.The finish harmonizes with the impression on the palate and is not too bitter.Good intensity without being too bitter or woody. I like very much."

"Un joli Single Cask signé par Karukera. Le nez fait parler les notes agricoles très prononcées d’herbes, de fleurs, de terre, de canna à sucre et de menthol, avec en arrière-plan un soupçon de vernis très subtil mais qui fait la différence au nez par rapport à un rhum agricole classique. C’est surprenant de sentir cela ici, et très agréable. Les fruits exotiques, le citron vert et les fruits secs s’allient aux épices douces (vanille, cannelle) et au bois pour donner un mélange complexe, équilibré et plaisant. En bouche, l’attaque se veut encore très végétale et florale, la canne à sucre et les herbes n’étant pas loin. On ressent aussi instantanément l’acidité des agrumes (citron vert) et des fruits exotiques. Les notes boisées et épicées apportent une certaine sécheresse au palais, qui s’en retrouve dérouté par autant de saveurs relativement opposées, mais le mélange opère bien. Il faut penser à aérer le rhum pendant un certain temps, sous peine de se confronter à une bête difficile à dompter. L’alcool pourrait être un peu mieux intégré. La finale a moins d’impact que l’entrée en bouche, et laisse le côté sec agricole, la fraîcheur végétale et la chaleur des épices comme dernières impressions à la dégustation. Un bon rhum agricole qui offre un joli tour en Guadeloupe avec un profil original et relevé comme il faut."

"Tasted at the 12th GRF Very good Foursquare! Unfortunately, only available as 1l bottle and thus quite expensive in absolute terms but attractive in relation to the quantity and especially the quality offered. For Foursquarefans a must!"

"#4137 Another great release from Pere Labat. This one with a slightly different profile from the other whites. Fruity and floral with a spicy and lightly dry palate. Very long and warm finish. Price to quality is very good in my mind."

"Mon premier enmore 1988 et troisième seulement donc je manque sûrement de repères seulement je trouve ça très bon. Un nez puissant et doux à la fois tandis qu’en bouche on a de bon mélanges de fruits rouges et notes plus dark café caramel. En bouche on ressent tout de même une probable réduction je pense. Je baisse ma note en considérant le prix même si je sais que les demerara pas cher ne courent pas les rues."

"A Single Cask from Depaz that's more gourmet than agricultural. The nose is rich with dried fruit and candied orange, spicy wood, tobacco and chocolate notes. The attack on the palate is just as round and balanced. Fruit mingles with spices, walnuts and sweet caramel notes, rounding out the finish with delicate oak and a hint of sugarcane in the background.The finish lingers on tannic, woody, toasty and spicy notes that add extra character. A full-bodied, masterful Depaz that would have deserved a few more degrees to be truly perfect."

"Got a sample of this rum for free from RumX. Long Pond is known for its funky and high-ester style of rum. It’s pot still distilled in 2001 whereafter it has been continentally aged in an ex-rum barrel for 21 years before bottled at cask strength in 245 bottles at 56,4%. Overall a fruity and funky rum."

"Incredibly awesome & super complex nose. Herbal tea, cherry candy, gingerbread & black pepper, burnt sawdust & coconut shavings.... Flavor then much drier than expected. Bit like salted nut butter, cold tea, em-eukal cherry!, raisins, dried cherries & currants, nutmeg and Williams pear barrel aged. Sau exciting, absolutely not too thin, extremely complex and intense. You just have to give it some time then it really shows what it can do!"

"Une belle surprise parmi les sorties de chez Rum Runner. Le nez est très parfumé, avec de belles saveurs épicées, boisées et torréfiées qui se conjuguent pour une bonne dose de gourmandise. Les fruits exotiques et les notes florales viennent jouer les troubles-fêtes et apporter de la fraîcheur. Un profil très aromatique et avenant. L’attaque en bouche est très onctueuse. On retrouve le fruité avec la noix de coco, la papaye et les fruits secs, alors que le côté sombre prend peu à peu le dessus avec des notes de tabac, de café, de chocolat, de vanille, de muscade et de toast. Le boisé est bien fondu et l’alcool très bien intégré. Le profil reste savoureux tout au long de la dégustation. La finale est un peu plus sèche et tannique, mais s’éternise sur la gourmandise des rhums Demerara, à la fois expressive et d’une grande rondeur. Un très bon Diamond des temps modernes."

"Again, a triad of fruit esters, distinct toasty barrel influences and tart spices. On the palate, there is a restrained sweetness and a hint of herbs. Lots of Jamaican archetypal, but unfortunately nothing that would really stick with me."

"A beautiful nose with spices, liquorice, floral tones with rose. Peach, wood and brown sugar. The alcohol, though low, is not fully integrated, which is a pity. The palate is far less complex than the nose, with rosewood, caramel and a slightly unpleasant astringency. The finish is too short, with some floral aromas. Tasted again and still not convinced."

"The 3yo from Montebello is a blend of 70% 3yo rhum, 20% 8yo rhum and 10% of 12yo rhum which gives an average age of 5 years. It’s actually the only aged Montebello rhum that is a blend. All the others are vintages. As a summary I think they have made a great job to create this blend."

"Un jeune rhum issu de la gamme classique et permanente de J. Bally. Le nez est léger, sec et agricole, avec des notes boisées de chêne, des épices, des fruits séchés, des notes rôties et des arômes floraux et végétaux de canne à sucre. On retrouve en bouche un rhum plus sombre, avec des notes boisées, épicées, poivrées, des noix et du cuir qui se mêlent à la canne à sucre. C’est sec, simple et équilibré. L’alcool est bien intégré. La finale est un peu courte. Les notes agricoles de tabac, de terre et de végétaux confèrent un profil plutôt amer en fin de bouche. On perçoit également les fruits secs, les notes rôties, boisées et épicées. Un rhum sympathique pour introduire au monde du rhum agricole."
