“Dieser Rum von Elizabeth Yard ist wirklich dunkel und behauptet auf dem Label ein Port Mourant zu sein - wäre er das, wäre es eine kleine Sensation, weil gefärbte PMs praktisch seit Jahrzehnten ausgestorben sind. Spoiler: Er ist kein PM. Um das zu beweisen habe ich die beiden 2003er Diamonds von Our Rum & Spirits im Glas 14yo & 13yo. Dir Nase vom EY ist deutlich intensiver als die der ORSs, aber auch sehr ähnlich. Dominant sind die Noten von der Färbung: Karamell, Röstaromen und Kaffee. Dahinter findet sich eine sehr präsente etwas künstliche Kirsche, einen reife beerige Frucht, Orange und Mango, dazu Nelken, Zimt - das weckt Erinnerungen an den SBS SVL 2003. Im Mund wird der Rum trockener und würziger. Die von der Frucht sind noch Rosinen, Dörrpflaumen und Orangen geblieben. Ein bisschen sauer ist er, dazu etwas bitterer Dunklerkakao. Wie eine warme Wolldecke, die ein bisschen kratzt. Die Alkoholintegration ist super, aber der Rum hat auch keine 55%. Der Abgang ist ähnlich wie der Gaumen, nicht übermäßig bitter, Kakao, Nelken, Tannine und etwas Orangenmarmelade. Update: Heute wieder eine Diamond Session. Mit dabei sind wieder der Elizabeth Yard 2003, der Two Flags 1996 und der Nobilis 2003 SVL. Der TF1996 ist der einzige gesicherte Rum von der Diamond Still, weil die Savalle damals noch in Uitvlugt stand. Der EY sticht wieder heraus. Wieder intensiver und im Kontrast zu dem SVL und dem TF mit einer harzigen Note, die ich gestern so nicht wahrgenommen habe. Ich bleibe bei der Bewertung, obwohl er mir zunehmend besser gefällt. Update #2: Nach einem ersten PM Cross-Tasting (SBS 1990 und El Dorado 1999) habe ich für mich ausgeschlossen, dass es ein Port Mourant ist, inzwischen bin ich ins Grübeln gekommen, auch im erneuten Vergleich mit dem SBS. Drei ausführlichen Verkostungen später, habe ich eine Idee, wieso man ihn für einen PM halten könnte. Der EY hat eine pflanzliche Würzig ein, etwas harzigen, das den anderen 2003ern völlig abgeht - aber das typische Anis fehlt komplett.. Er ist viel intensiver als der Rest - aber gerede am Gaumen viel milder als echte PMs. Ich bin verwirrt. Meine erste Enttäuschung ist verflogen, der Rum ist konstant gewachsen. +1”
